I started making knives a few years ago and bought my grinder. For my first grinder, it's great. The first thing I did was to round the back of the tool rest so I can swing it out of the way without removing it all the time. I put a carriage bolt with a wing nut (wing nut on top) to make it a lot easier to deal with. After a LOT of hours of use I needed to replace the motor. I made the choice to go to a variable speed motor - I wish I would have spent the coupe of extra dollars right out of the gate for that option. Now I have eliminated hours of hand work. Since the beginning I've upgraded my forge, anvil, hammers, and other things but I still have my Mini Diktator.
