Why Your Tracking Number May Not Work Right Away
If you’ve received a UPS or USPS tracking number but don’t see updates yet—don’t worry, this is totally normal. Tracking numbers typically become active only after your package has been scanned into the carrier’s system. Here’s what to expect for each carrier:
UPS Packages
UPS tracking numbers will not show movement until your package is physically scanned by a UPS driver. Here’s why:
Driver Scanning Delay
The UPS driver uses a handheld scanner during pickup. If their device doesn’t sync to UPS’s online tracking system immediately, your tracking info won’t update until they return to the local hub.
Pickup Timing Matters
If you receive your UPS tracking number after our daily pickup window, it won’t show activity until the following business day when UPS scans it at pickup.
USPS Packages
USPS tracking can be delayed for different reasons:
Label Pre-Creation
USPS tracking numbers are generated when your label is printed, but tracking updates may not show until your package is scanned at the USPS facility.
After-Hours Drop-Off
If your package is prepared after USPS’s local pickup time, it may not be scanned until the next day.
Still Not Seeing Activity?
Most tracking numbers update within 24 hours of being issued. If you don’t see movement after a full business day, feel free to reach out to us at support@diktatorgrinder.com and we’ll help track things down.
